On 2nd July, the GIPA WZ Mumbai Unit organized a grand and heartwarming function to commemorate the 89th Birth Anniversary of Comrade Kaka Samant, the visionary founder of GIPA and a guiding force for the All India Association until his passing in October last year.
The event was held at Mysore Association Hall, King’s Circle, where around 200 pensioners gathered to pay tribute to a leader they deeply admired and respected.
The program began with a power-point presentation showcasing the remarkable life and contributions of Com. Kaka Samant. It included audio-visual bites from various leaders sharing their experiences and memories related to the trade union movement and Comrade Samant's pivotal role in it.
Several dignitaries and office bearers spoke on the occasion, including Mr. Shyam Mathur, Mr. U. Banerjee, Special Invitee Mr. Sriranga Samant, and Com. Kaka’s son, Mr. Santosh Samant, all of whom fondly recalled their cherished moments and shared touching anecdotes about the beloved leader.
A major highlight of the program was a soulful musical performance by Pandit Upendra Bhatt, a disciple of the legendary Pandit Bhimsen Joshi and a retired national-level employee from Pune. His rendition of Hindustani classical music and popular Abhangs captivated the audience and added a spiritual and emotional dimension to the celebration.
Pensioners from Pune also travelled to Mumbai to be part of this special event, a testament to the widespread love and respect Com. Kaka Samant continues to command.
The event was gracefully anchored by Mr. Mohan Paranjpe, and the Vote of Thanks was delivered by Ms. Jaya Desai.
The collective efforts of the Mumbai Unit team received widespread appreciation, with special mention from Pandit Upendra Bhatt for the seamless organization and warm hospitality. We extend our heartfelt thanks to him for his immediate acceptance of our invitation and his touching tribute through music.
