Family Pensioners delayed, issue take up with authorities

We came to know recently there are around 250 Family Pensioners applications from four PSGI companies and GICRe are not processed  as LIC wanted some clarifications on providing short term annuities for family pensioners as there is a provision in our 1995 Pension Scheme about protection of full pension for seven years or till 65 years to continue for the legal heir after pensioner death. Realising the plight of the family pensioners, we met the Executive Director,(P&GS) of LIC Central Office at Mumbai yesterday to resolve the issues. We came to know  that issue with IRDA has been sorted out but now there is a glitch in their soft wire program. We pressurized and explained the hardship and plight undergoing by these Family Pensioners for about last nine months. They shared their difficulties but explained the matter is taken on top priority and assured that all the Family Pensioners whose applications  are pending for the same reason will be cleared in 1st week of July or by middle of July. We are keeping in touch with LIC management and continue to follow the development in this regard.  U. Banerjee. General Secretary, GIPAIF.
