Delegation of GIPAIF meet GIPSA officials to discuss many pending issues

Last week a delegation of GIPAIF consisting of M/s R. S. Tuteja, N P Upadhay, U. Banerjee, Shyam Mathur, Rajnish Pandey met GIPSA officials and discussed many pending issues in the last week.

We also met Mr. Jagjit Kumar, Director of Insurance (General Insurance). We discussed on above points first. Regarding TAC left out retirees it was clarified by Director, DFS that due to small technical problems, this is kept pending.

We have to follow up with IRDAI for clearance of their pensions. Pension option for LPA employees but outcome was not encouraging However we have to try and convince GIPSA to extend them Pension facility.

Many other issues like seven years or protection of 50% pension in case of insured employees death upto present age of 65 years to 67 years DFS agreed to look into.

We also explained the need to extend the pension option to few left-out FTS in the industry. GIPSA assured us to look into this aspect. Regarding the GMP premium to pay in installments, GIPSA expressed difficulties to implement.

The same matter when we discussed it with DFS Director he agreed in principle and advised us to talk with PSGI cos CMDs to consider.

Family Pension matter which is pending for last many years to increase unilaterally from 15% to 30% basic pay, we were shocked when Director, DFS conveyed us out of four companies financial conditions are so bad that they are not in a position to bear the extra burden of Rs 250- 260 crores each in case percentage in Family Pension is increased to 30%.

We are not convinced and decided to continue our struggle. All India Dharna at Jantar Mantar is arranged on 14th March 2023 and try to draw the attention of the present government. We are confident of mounting pressure on the government as the issue is absolutely genuine as about ten thousand general insurance Family Pensioners are undergoing tremendous hardship.

Today we received some developments in our Group Medical Policy. They are as follows:

1) Maximum insured sum to be increased from 50 lacs to 75 lacs.
2) Age band of the pensioner and his or her at the time of retirement will continue the same as long as they are Alive. No more change of base premium after every five years. It will be restricted to only the insured and spouse.
3) Existing subsidy of 5 lacs, 6 lacs and 10 lacs as per eligibility to continue.
4) Increase in the cap of oral tablets or robotics operation cap of Rs 5 lacs to be increased to Rs 10 lacs
5) Cap on cataract operation up to Rs 1 lac only.
6) Loading in existing premium will come to around 20%.
We have to be prepared for further struggle to see that loading of 20% is not imposed on us. We are also insisting GIPSA to provide us the facility of paying premiums in installments.

Dear Pensioners be ready to struggle and fight till the end to achieve our all demands.

U. Banerjee. General Secretary.
